  • Strut Your Mutt Austin

    Best Friends Animal Society is teaming up with their partner rescue groups, shelters and animal welfare organizations to help save the lives of homeless cats and dogs at Strut Your Mutt.  Come and visit with THLN at our table there!

    This year’s event is on September 14, 2019 at Walter E. Long Park in Austin.

    Best Friends Animal Society is excited to help save the lives of homeless pets in the Austin area. All funds raised go directly to lifesaving programs, such as spay and neuter services, adoption events and more.  For more information on the event please click here.

  • The Lone Star State Update on Animal Law 2019

    Join the Animal Legal Defense Fund for The Lone Star Update on Animal Law, where THLN's President, Shelby Bobosky, will be speaking! This CLE (continuing legal education) event will provide attendees the opportunity to hear from experts in the Texas animal law community on topics including legislation, civil law, and criminal law, and a special topics panel on the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s Houston Aquarium lawsuit.

  • Sheriff's Association of Texas Annual Conference 2019

    Calling all Texas Peace Officers!  Join THLN at the 2019 Sheriff's Association of Texas annual conference where we will be tabling once again.  

    The Sheriffs of Texas began Annual Training Conferences in 1878. These Training Conferences today are the largest composite gathering of law enforcement officers in Texas.

    Nowhere else will you receive this assortment of specialized training for the Texas Peace Officer! Through informative General Sessions, often taught by National Speakers, to specialized topics in the concurrent training sessions, you will gain valuable information on technology, issues and problems facing Texas Peace Officers today. You also will not want to miss the opportunity to meet with your law enforcement colleagues to share and discuss issues that you encounter every day.

    In addition to the abundance of training hours, you will also get to shop in one convenient spot. With a record number of vendors exhibiting at the conference, you are able to learn about the new and innovative products that are available for peace officers.

  • Best Friends National Conference

    Join us for the Best Friends 2019 National Conference at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas from Wednesday, July 25th through Saturday, July 27th, where THLN will be tabling.

    At the conference, you’ll get the chance to learn, share and connect with like-minded animal lovers from around the country. With workshops and speakers on nearly every aspect of the no-kill movement, the conference has something for everyone. You’ll be joined by more than a thousand fellow animal lovers, united by a passion for saving the lives of homeless pets and getting the country to no-kill by 2025.

    THLN is seeking volunteers to help with tabling at this event!  We need to fill the following shifts:

    • Wednesday, July 24: sometime (approximately 1 - 1.5 hours) between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (table setup)
    • Wednesday, July 24: 5 – 8 p.m.
    • Thursday, July 25: 12 – 2 p.m.
    • Thursday, July 25: 5:30 – 8 p.m.
    • Friday, July 26: 11:45 a.m. – 1:45 p.m.
    • Friday, July 26: 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
    • Saturday, July 27: 11:45 a.m. – 1:45 p.m.

    THLN will be tabling at Northside Dawgs Houston Cares Pet Fair!  This free event includes free spay/neuter vouchers*, free dog food (while supplies last), student art contest, face painting, guest speakers and MUCH MORE!

    * Spay/neuter vouchers: this is a sign-up ONLY.  There will be NO procedures performed on the day.  Your pet's surgery will be scheduled at a later date.

  • 7th Annual Flags for Fallen Vets

    Join Texas Humane Legislation Network’s Southeast Texas Chapter for the 7thannual Flags for Fallen Vets event on Sunday, May 26th, 2019.

    THLN is honored to volunteer for the first time in this annual event to remember and honor the brave me and women who have sacrificed for our country and our freedoms. We will need a group of 15 volunteers to place flags at each headstone in our assigned section. Feel free to bring friends and family members to participate as well.  Please sign up to volunteer here, so that we have an idea of how many volunteers we can expect.

    The details: The opening ceremony will begin at 8am at the hemicycle – please be on time so you can find parking and we can gather our group together. A team lead will give instruction on proper protocol of how each flag should be placed, as well as proper etiquette in a National Cemetery

    What to bring: Water, 12 inch ruler, screw driver

    What to wear: Dress comfortably. We are hoping to get shirts ordered in time, we will keep you posted.
