The animal cruelty laws in Texas won't change themselves! YOU can help our efforts to pass animal friendly legislation and put a stop to animal cruelty right here in Texas! THLN only has 2 full time employees, which means every victory we have had is because of amazing volunteers like you!
Every chapter has different animal volunteer opportunities and needs. Chapter Leadership Committees create and execute a yearly plan of action for marketing, fundraising, outreach, and legislation. Let us know where you could be of the most help depending on your time, skills, and experience.
Please complete the form below and we will connect with you with the chapter closest to you.
Thank you for being an animal advocate, our efforts to stop animal abuse would not be possible without YOU!

IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE TRYING TO REPORT A NEGLECT OR ABUSE SITUATION, CONTACT YOUR LOCAL HUMANE SOCIETY, LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY OR LOCAL ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER - DO NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR A THLN MEMBER AS WE ARE A LEGISLATIVE ORGANIZATION, NOT AN ENFORCEMENT AGENCY.
If you use a spam filter, please turn it off because the person providing the response to your inquiry will not have THLN.org in their return email address.
THLN's purpose is to pass effective legislation for the animals in the Texas Legislature. We do not have the resources to deal directly with animal cruelty or adoption issues, but we can recommend several fine organizations who do.

PETITION: TELL LEGISLATURE DOGS DESERVE ADEQUATE SHELTER
Every year we receive hundreds of calls and emails about dogs left outside suffering in the extreme Texas weather. We know law enforcement, the media, and everyday Texans are sometimes helpless to do anything when they see a dog succumbing to a heat stroke.
That’s partly because every jurisdiction in Texas handles these cases different. Why? Because we do not have a single definition of “adequate shelter” that everyone can use.
If the horror stories of animals freezing to death or dying in the Texas heat haunt you, you can do something NOW.
Sign our petition: tell Texas legislators dogs deserve adequate shelter.
Passing our tethering bill next session will allow us to include a statewide definition of "adequate shelter" as a minimum standard of shelter that all pet owners should have to meet. Once we have this definition in place, local law enforcement and animal control officers will be able to act swiftly.
Please help us change the fate of Texas animals. They can’t afford to wait.
Sign and share our petition today.
You can help make Texas a safer place for animals by spending just a few minutes of your time during the legislative session. By signing up for THLN's Action Alerts and responding to them with calls and faxes to your legislators, you can help pass humane legislation that make a huge difference to animals in the state of Texas. Every phone call and fax helps!
