Petland Bellaire Going To Court

During the legislative session, those profiting off puppy mills fought hard to lift the pet store bans, but failed, and the Houston pet store ordinance remains intact. In addition, the roadside sales ban on animals in Houston and Harris County was also in jeopardy, but it was also saved. So how is Petland Bellaire still selling puppies six months after the ban went into effect? Because it doesn’t care.

Details about the Trial:

BARC and the City of Houston have since charged the Houston Petland Bellaire and the trial is scheduled for August 3, 2023, at 4 p.m.

Petland Bellaire must appear in court and explain their brazen disregard and disrespect for the ordinance.

If you plan to attend, your presence alone will show support for the city and our Humane Pet Store Ordinance.

In the meantime, how can we ensure these ordinances are enforced?

If you see a Houston pet store selling puppies or someone selling animals on public property or public rights-of-way in Houston and unincorporated Harris County, including shopping center parking lots, please do the following:

  1. Take pictures of the puppies/animals for sale.
  2. Note the name and address of the store where it’s happening or the road or parking lot where the animals are being sold.
  3. Call 3-1-1.
  4. Let THLN know about the sale by emailing us at [email protected] with the photo/details!

Thank you for helping ensure we protect our Houston animals and see these ordinances enforced.

Well good. Our protesting in front of the store helped.
