We are pleased to announce our inaugural 2019 “Laws for Paws” Symposium, in partnership with Texas Unites! 

This symposium will focus on laws for "local" paws, and presentations will focus on the intersections between federal and state animal laws and local ordinances. Topics explore current animal statutes at the top and how they intersect our work at the local level. The content of this symposium will be accessible for anyone seeking to promote change in local law and policy or understand the nuances of enforcing such laws, but will also include cutting-edge informative for veterans in the field.

Sessions will address trending issues such as service dogs, dangerous dogs and hold times for animals at the shelter. Speakers will also learn how to help advance local animal laws, and how to start an animal welfare court. The day will end with an exciting moot court presentation for those who testify in animal cruelty cases on behalf of the prosecution.

We are honored to have Nancy Blaney, Director of Government Affairs with the Animal Welfare Institute in Washington DC, as our keynote speaker!
