Join Animal Advocates Across Texas this March!
Humane Lobby Day is when animal lovers from all walks of life and across the state meet at the Capitol to advocate for animals. No experience is necessary, just a passion for protecting animals from harm. At Humane Lobby Day, we will teach you what you need to know to effectively engage with lawmakers on the most important animal-related bills under consideration by the Legislature. Most of all, Humane Lobby Day is fun! After a full day of getting briefed on bills, special guest speakers, meeting with legislators, and networking with like-minded Texans, you’ll be empowered to take that knowledge back to your community – and you will know you made a difference for animals!

Frequently Asked Questions
I am coming from out of town, where do you recommend staying?
The Happy Hour on Monday the 24th will be held at Hyatt Centric, for convenience that is our first recommended option. Other recommendations are Fairmont Austin, Citizen Austin Downtown Hotel, and Omni Austin.
What should I wear?
Casual business attire or jeans are appropriate. We’ll provide you with a t-shirt that you’re welcome to change into upon arrival. Wear comfortable shoes—the Capitol is large, and the floors are hard. Please avoid flip-flops, hats, or ripped clothing with inappropriate messages or images.
Can I bring my child? My dog?
We welcome family and friends that will be able to enjoy the day and remain focused for the entire schedule, but please no four-legged friends. You must be accompanied with an adult if you are under 18. Everyone 18+ is welcome!
Can I bring a friend so I am not alone?
We encourage folks to invite friends and family to Humane Lobby Day. Legislators do prefer to speak with their constituents specifically, so feel free to come with folks, but know you might be split up during meetings based off your districts.
What legislation will we be discussing?
Each session, numerous animal-related bills are filed. This year, we’re focusing on three: the Ethical Pet Sales Bill, the Spay/Neuter License Plate Bill, and the Veterinary Telemedicine Bill.
Will I be meeting lawmakers face to face?
We hope so! The THLN staff will be working hard ahead of time to ensure that each person that registers is scheduled a meeting with the legislators or their staff in their district(s).
Will I be alone or with others?
At times multiple people register for the event that live in the same district. Those meetings will be consolidated so each district will only have one meeting with THLN. We will provide maps, directional support, and help you find the office you are looking for.
Can I purchase a ticket at the door?
No, we are not allowing folks to purchase tickets at the door since we are scheduling meetings with legislators ahead of time.
