What are your top animal protection priorities for 2018?

Thank you for participating in this 10 question survey! Many of these animal welfare issues were addressed in legislation that failed in the 2017 Texas session, and others represent areas of concern consistently reported by our stakeholders, partners and chapters. We know this is not a comprehensive list of all areas of crises for animals, and we welcome your feedback.

Please don’t let buildings be built to contribute to crimes against innocent Animals in Texas through “animal experimentation labs”.

I know your organization is a true friend to Animals, please encourage this company to create much needed ANIMAL SANCTUARIES with their money to help the Animals not to poison, cut them up , chemically burn them, cripple them, mame them and have them suffer and die.

PUBLIC MEETINGS: Brazoria City Council to discuss animal facility

    Dec 17, 2023 Updated Dec 17, 2023

    BRAZORIA

    Council to discuss animal-testing facility

The city council will discuss the possible construction of Charles River Laboratories facility in Brazoria County to house purpose bred non-human primate laboratory animals during its meeting this week.

Following the discussion, the council might adopt a resolution regarding the construction of the facility.

Earlier this year, Charles River Laboratories established a shell company called Kandurt, Brazoria County Judge Matt Sebesta said Dec. 11. The company used the subsidiary to acquire about 540 acres of land in proximity to the San Bernard River and National Wildlife Refuge for its intended facility.

The company has not revealed publicly any specifics about its plans, and County Commissioner David Linder said its representatives did not shed much light during a meeting with elected officials Dec. 13. It’s also not clear what the next step will be, he said.

The Brazoria City Council is scheduled to meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 201 S. Main St.
