AUSTIN, Texas -- On Tuesday, May 14th, members of the Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN) and other passionate animal welfare advocates will participate in phone banks across Texas to encourage fellow members to learn more about important legislation and to contact their elected officials to solicit their support.
"THLN is a Texas-based, Texas-powered grassroots organization dedicated the humane treatment of animals in our state," said Laura Donahue, Executive Director of THLN. "Bringing together our diverse, wonderful members in their own communities for an Advocacy Day during this critical time in the legislative process will be a powerful reminder to our elected officials how important these issues truly are."
On Advocacy Day, members of THLN will open their homes to host local events. Currently, there are events planned in the Dallas, Houston, Austin, Amarillo, and El Paso areas.
"Our top priority this session is SB 295, which creates basic standards for shelter and restraint of our Texas dogs when they're outside," continued Laura Donahue. "Our hope is that a strong outpouring of support from actual constituents will help us get this bill to the Governor's desk."
