Linda Henry (713)249-5889, [email protected]. I am appalled. Living in a condo complex since 2005, I rarely see loose cats. A tuxedo cat appeared meowing her head off at 1:30am Sat 1/23 with a half dollar size wound/infection on it’s back, crusted with blood. Took to vet that morning. Posted flyers in neighborhood, put on Pawboost, Petco, lost my kittie and Nextdoor. Texted and emailed neighbors. One couple who kept kitty for 3 nights but had a dog and had to return her. I donate monthly to the Houston SPCA and phoned them. That’s when I found out the cat is legally mine because I took her to the Vet. A law in 2007 and reaffirmed in 2011 about care, etc, more than 3 days, etc. Basically, the old woman cat law. I helped along with others one case like that in 1993. So if I had called the help line and spent their money instead of taking to the vet, I would be in the clear. Punishing the many for the few. Exceptions need to be made. I will find this cat a home but not because of Texas’ backward ways but because I care. I operate at a very reduced speed because of my physical limitations but would like to help to amend this law. I need the name of law. I have a cat to take care of. Thank you for your help.
