Quick Summary: Puppy mills in Texas are at an all-time high. In recent weeks, three breeding facilities confining dogs and cats in horrific conditions and sweltering heat were discovered in Montague, Kaufman and Nacogdoches Counties. A total of more than 1200 dogs and cats were removed! Sadder still, hundreds more puppy mill operators are still in business, profiting from shockingly abusive treatment of animals, representing the worst of humankind.
Dear Friends,
THLN will address puppy mill cruelty in future legislative sessions. In the meantime, we will turn our focus to raising public awareness through media exposure and public events. By unveiling the ugly truth that lies behind glossy pet shop ads and website photos, we can transform would-be puppy "buyers" to dog rescuers and adopters.
Help us stop puppy mill cruelty!
With your help, we will launch a statewide grassroots campaign to lay the groundwork for the 2011 legislative session. And, we will educate hundreds of thousands of people throughout the state about the pet trade and puppy mill industries.
With nine THLN Chapters founded this last year alone, we will continue to plant and nurture grassroots operations throughout Texas, resulting in a true statewide network that can overcome the unscrupulous practices of our opponents at the Capitol.
